Foto jornadaPlenty of changes to the starting line up this week with Paz the only player keeping his place in the back four, Vella returns to right back, De La Cuesta joins Paz at the centre after his injury and Cristian takes over the left back position as Raul Lopez is still injured and Vicente is suspended. In midfield Enrique starts on the right after his injury, Rivas joins Fleurquin in the centre and Lobos returns to the left side, whilst upfront Pavoni starts again partnered by Dani.

The crowd gave Mr Baldasano a somewhat hostile greeting when he took his place in the directors box and one supporter was ejected when he threw something in the direction of the 'President'. Meanwhile the game started with Cadiz dominating from the start and enjoying nearly all the possession and in the sixth minute Lobos had a shot from outside the area that whistled just the wrong side of the post. Shortly afterwards good play by Pavoni saw him chip the ball into space in the box which Dani spun to try and fire the ball in but his effort went wide when Enrique was bearing down on the ball and was in a much better position to try and score. Enrique starting his first game since his injury looked a little off the pace but he still put in a really dangerous cross in front of goal that was just crying out for someone to attack the ball and head it home but unfortunately this is the main problem at the moment and nobody was attacking the ball in the opposition area and the ball was easily cleared. Despite all the possession Cadiz didn't cause Gonzalez, in the Las Palmas goal, any problems and he wasn't called into make a save, however at the other end Contreras had to be on his toes to collect a long shot from Garcia from just under the bar and then Cristian had to make a last ditch tackle to block a shot from two yards out right in front of the goal.

FotoThe second half continued in much the same vein as the first with Cadiz having the better possession but the visitors having the better chances. The first effort of the half went to Las Palmas as they broke quickly from defence and the ball was at the feet of the powerful Marquez striding towards the Cadiz goal with De La Cuesta racing at his side, as the pair reached the Cadiz box De La Cuesta slid in to try and tackle the big forward who went tumbling in the area. Was the referee going to point to the spot?. Somewhat fortunately he had decided that Marquez had dived and promptly booked him. Los amarillos laid siege to the visitors goal but they could find no clear way through and it was left to the two full backs, Vella and Cristian, to come close with long shots that just went the wrong side of the posts. With time running out Cadiz won another corner, which Parri took and fired over a great cross that Paz met perfectly but his powerful header was too high and it flew over the bar.

It was good to see Paz back at the heart of the defense taking control of the line with De La Cuesta at his side and young Cristian had another outstanding game both in his defensive duties and his attacking play and seems to be able to run all day. Vella as well was always looking to attack with purpose whenever the opportunity arose. Just in front of the back four was Rivas who always made himself available and looks to be settling well into the team, Fleurquin was strong in the middle and rarely lost a header in midfield, Enrique looked a little off the pace after his injury but he probably got himself in the best scoring position, only to be thwarted by Dani, and also put in the most dangerous cross during his 45 minutes on the pitch. Lobos is an extremely skillful player who glides past players but at the moment despite all his skill he is not getting close to goal and much of his play takes place nearer the centre spot rather than the penalty spot. Pavoni is another really skillful player who is strong holding opposition players off and is always looking to slide the ball through for players to run onto but most of his efforts at the moment are wasted as Dani and Casas are not, at the moment, on the same wavelength. Dani will run all day upfront but doesn't look like a natural goal scorer and Casas needs to try to play more in the opposition box rather than run out wide to deliver the ball into the area.

The team tonight really looked as if they are starting to play well together and with a bit more bite upfront and a bit more luck they should start climbing the table and challenging for promotion as they undoubtedly have enough quality in the squad.
