His first team choice sees Cristian move up from right back to play in the right midfield with Caneda moving to right back, which leaves a central defensive role open for the welcome return of Abraham Paz. Fleurquin and Bezares start in the centre of midfield with Gustavo Lopez moving from the right midfield to his preferred left, which means that Lobos moves to the subs bench and up front Casas returns in place of Dani, who also moves to the subs bench.

Cadiz started well and won their first corner on the fifth minute, which caused all sorts of problems to an Ejido defense that has leaked 17 goals in the first seven matches of this season, but a chip back across the front of the goal by Casas was eventually headed out for another corner. A few minutes later and it was Ejido who won their first corner, which was initially well cleared but the ball was quickly played back into the danger area to the feet of Gerardo but his cross from the left of the area was again well cleared and the ball went out for an Ejido throw. However from the resultant throw the ball went to Moreno in the right of box with his back to Yago Yao but he managed to turn to his left and gain a yard on Yago and squared the ball across the front of the goal where Bermejo was able to slot the ball home from two yards out to put the home team one up. Within three minutes Bermejo had a great chance to make it two when the ball was slid threw the Cadiz defense for him to run onto but with only Contreras to beat and a couple of defenders closing from behind he rushed his left footed shot and pulled it well wide of the goal. In the fifteenth minute a quick break out from the back gave Casas a chance to fire in a shot from 25 yards but his effort was well wide of the mark. Just a minute later the ball was in a similar position and this time Gustavo Lopez was the one to try and find the target from distance but, although his effort was closer than the Casas one, it was still well wide of the mark. In the 21st minute Cadiz had their best effort of the half when Lopez won a free kick on the left, which he took and crossed low into the area where Casas volleyed the ball with his left foot but his effort took a slight deflection off an Ejido defender and the ball went agonisingly past the wrong side of the post with the keeper well beaten. Five minutes later and it looked as if Cadiz were back in the game when a good passage of play across the pitch resulted in Lopez crossing for Casas to run onto and head the ball into the net but he had been flagged for, an extremely close, offside decision and the goal was ruled out. Cadiz continued to dominate most of the possession, with Ejido only managing another long shot from Moreno in the 34th minute that went wide, but the only other chance of the half went to Cadiz after another solid piece of forward attacking play from los amarillos gave Casas the chance for a pot at goal but again his effort took a deflection off a defender and went out for a corner.

FotoThe second half started with Cadiz again pressing hard and within six minutes of the restart great play between Lopez to Cristian, who slid the ball through for Vicente to run onto in the box with only the keeper to beat but instead of trying to score himself Vicente squared the ball to his right where Casas fired over when under intense pressure. In the fourteenth minute of the half more good play through Cristian found him slide the ball through the Ejido defense again for Vicente to run onto and collect before the keeper managed to dive at his feet and palm the ball away before it was cleared by one of his defenders. Contreras was rarely called into action and the only efforts from Ejido were from distance and in the 18th minute, after good play down the right, Usero had a long shot that went high over the bar. A minute later Cadiz were down to 10 men when Bezares was breaking at pace over the halfway line but was crudely pulled back by his shirt and reacted by swinging his right arm in the direction of the Ejido player, although he was nowhere near the player, and the referee awarded a free kick to Cadiz but showed a second yellow to a shocked Bezares. Calderon immediately sent on Dani and the fit again Enrique for Yago Yao and Casas in an allout effort to try and get something out of the game. In the 36th minute of the half good play down the right saw Enrique fire a low cross field pass to Lobos, who a few minutes earlier had come on for Fleurquin, but his shot from outside the box went well wide. Moments later and Contreras was called into a rare piece of action when he had to be alert to tip over a good 20 yard effort. Shortly after that and Cadiz were down to nine men when Vicente appeared to raise his elbow as he was running with an Ejido player and the referee showed him his second yellow to go the same way as Bezares. With just two minutes left of the match Lobos picked up the ball in his own half and waltzed past Vacas and raced towards the Ejido half with Vacas trying to get back at him and in desperation the Ejido tried to tackle Lobos but ended up taking his legs from behind and the referee, rather harshly, showed him a straight red to make the final few minutes playing 10 against 9 but neither side were able to score and the game ended 1-0 to Ejido.

This result was hardly surprising after all the turmoil at Cadiz during the week but the effort and some of the play of los amarillos was excellent and if they can start scoring, which was the problem they had last season, then they will soon start bouncing back and be challenging the top of the table before the halfway stage of the season.
