After 12 years out of the top flight, Cadiz won their first home three Primera Liga points with a fine 1-0 win against Bilbao. Esparrago recalled Paz, Fleurquin and Oli to the starting line-up, as he turned to the eleven players who's performances have made the step from the Segunda B to the Primera Liga a tiny one. After the 3-1 win away at Albacete in the cup which was achieved with mainly squad players, it was back to the main business of the league.

The match started sluggishly, and neither them could break the other down. Cadiz enjoyed the majority of the ball, but until the 14th minute they were unable to create anything. That all changed thanks to Enrique, whose man of the match performance was emphasized especially in the first half. The goal game after Sesma found space and played the ball into the Bilbao area, and keeper Aranzubia failed to deal with the danger. Enrique controlled the ball, before lashing it home into the net to the ecstasy of the home support. The question was could they build on the start and avoid another anxious match like the ones that have been seen at the Carranza on numerous times this season already. Bilbao tried to rally and come back at Cadiz, but the team defended superbly and Armando wasnt called upon to make a save. In fact Cadiz looked the more likely to score the second goal, and looked dangerous on the counter as they did so brilliantly at Espanyol last week. As Cadiz searched to double their lead, the referee dubiously disallowed what looked like a perfectly good Fleurquin goal, much to the annoyance of everyone inside the Carranza. Seconds later the referee did little to enhance his reputation, when he failed to spot a hand ball in the Bilbao box after great work from Sesma down the left. After the misfortune of the bad decisions, the last chance of  the half for Cadiz fell to Sesma after more good work from Enrique, but with the keeper beaten Sesma couldnt get enough on the ball to stroke it home.

The only surprise at the half time whistle was that the score was only 1-0, and despite being delighted at the quality of the home sides performance, many were wondering if it was again going to be a draw for los amarillos. After an obvious half time rocketing, Bilbao kept more possesion at the start of the second half, but still they failed to break down the stubborn Cadiz rearguard. Cadiz then created chances of their own as they swarmed towards the Bilbao goal, Sesma was unlucky with a header, and then from a Raul Lopez cross Oli was just beaten to the ball by a defender. Sesma continued to create chances with his good work down the right, but the next chance game from an Abraham Paz screamer, but unfortunately it stayed 1-0. In the 75th minute, Oli had perhaps the best chance to seal the three points, as he broke through and the keeper slipped, he crossed the ball towards the empty goal from a tight angle but was unable to find the net. The inevitable nearly happened with ten minutes remaining, but with Bilbao looking like nicking an undeserved equaliser De Quintana recovered to make a fine interception. As Bilbao pushed forward, Pavoni had one last chance, but 1-0 was enough to see Cadiz record their first home win of the season and climb to 10th in La Liga.
