FotoTeam news this week sees the return of Dani to lead the attack, with Pavoni dropping back to an attacking midfield role with Parri dropping to the bench.

Cadiz started brightly with the midfield controlling the centre of the park but without causing too many problems for the Eidar defense. The first occasion that Cadiz had was when the ball ran loose outside the area, after Dani had chased a ball into the area and was well tackled. Garcia ran onto the ball and took a left footed swing at the ball but his effort went high and wide. Shortly afterwards Cadiz won a corner which Lobos took, his cross was cleared by the Eibar defense but Caneda was able to put in a powerful shot goalwards that hit Dani and went wide of the post. Gradually though Eibar weathered the storm and started gaining more possession and looked dangerous in attack. In the 32nd minute they had a free kick out by the touchline to the right of Contreras' goal, which was fired in and met by an unchallenged Eibar forward who headed the ball powerfully from 5 yards out, which Contreras did extremely well to parry to allow the Cadiz defense to clear the danger.

Cadiz continued moving the ball across the park and trying to launch attacks down the wings and in the 37th minute a strong play down the right ended with Lopez shooting from an acute angle that Cuellar, in the Eibar goal, had to palm away. A few minutes later Cristian made a run down the right wing and fired over a super cross to the penalty spot, which Pavoni headed goalwards but Cuellar dived to his left and palmed the ball behind for another Cadiz corner. Lobos stepped up to take the corner but his cross failed to get past the first defender and the ball was kicked away out of the box but Cristian ran onto the loose ball, beating an onrushing defender to the ball, and fired in a low shot towards the goal. His shot was slightly deviated when it struck the Eibar defender, Urzelai, and went straight past the despairing Cuellar to put Cadiz one up just two minutes before half time.

With just 5 minutes of the second half played Eibar broke strongly down the right and their winger easily rounded Vicente on the edge of the box by near the bye line but it looked as if the Cadiz left back had been watching the Rugby World Cup as he pulled down the Eibar player just inside the area to give the referee no option but to award the visitors a penalty. Goiria was given the responsibility of taking the penalty and he stroked the ball to the left of Contreras as the Cadiz keeper dived to his right, bringing the visitors back on level terms.

FotoSuddenly Cadiz started attacking in numbers with both Cristian and Vicente making runs deep into the opposition half but this also meant that when Eibar broke quickly los amarillos were thinly spread at the back. On one such occasion in the 59th minute a Cadiz attack broke down and the visitors stormed forward resulting in Zurutuza getting the ball at his feet, free on the edge of the box with just Contreras to beat, but the experienced keeper was quick off his line to narrow the angles and he was able to block the effort to keep Cadiz on level terms.

Cadiz continued throwing caution to the wind and left gaping holes at the back but they looked determined to take the three points and Lobos looked to have done that when he fired in a super shot from 25 yards out, which went past Cuellar but unfortunately also went just the wrong side of the right hand post. Shortly afterwards the referee made a, rather harsh, decision that gave the visitors a numerical advantage for the final fifteen minutes of the game. Cadiz were breaking from their own half with the ball at the feet of Lobos, who fooled Carmelo and waltzed past the Eibar midfielder heading off towards the Eibar half but Carmelo had grasped the shirt of Lobos and was forcibly holding him back with the Argentinian trying to break free. The referee blew for a free kick to Cadiz and booked Carmelo but he then, quite incredulously to the Cadistas, showed a straight red to Lobos having adjudged his arm swinging to break free as dangerous play.

Even with 10 men los amarillos were still attacking strongly to try and find a winner but in the 88th minute the referee awarded Eibar a free kick out by the left touch line after a strong tackle from Fleurquin, in which he clearly won the ball, was adjudged a foul. The resultant free kick went over both attackers and defenders as it headed towards the bye line past the left hand post of Contreras but as it looked to be bouncing aimlessly out Lopez and Contreras found themselves flat footed as Yague managed to get his head to the ball and it looped over Contreras from a really narrow angle and dropped into the goal near the back post to put the visitors 1-2 ahead. There was no time left for Cadiz to get back into the game and in the end the three points went to the visitors with many in the crowd waving white hankies at the final whistle.

The team played well today with more determination but there is still a huge problem getting or even creating goals. Much of the midfield possession is across the park with the ball usually being played forward to the feet of an attacker, who has his back to goal and a defender at his back, making it very difficult to break through the defense. The forward play also looks rather slow and laboured with very few balls passed ahead of players for them to run onto putting the opposition defense on the back foot running towards their own goal, which has resulted in very few goal opportunities coming from inside the area but instead are either coming from dead ball situations or long shots.

The next game is on Wednesday night kicking off at 21.00 at the Carranza where Cadiz take on Granada 74 in the next round of the Copa del Rey, before they make the trip to take on Polideportivo Ejido on Saturday the 13th October kicking off at 18.00 and due to be screened on Canal 2.
