GAME
Some
enforced changes because of injuries sees Raul Lopez come in at left back,
Velasco comes in for Enrique and Caballero starts in place of Ormazabal. From
the first whistle it was the home team that were first out of the blocks and on
the back of two successive victories their confidence was high and just 4
minutes into the game Casilla was forced to pull off a great one handed diving
save to keep out a shot from Hidalgo. Ten minutes later and Callejon shot high
over the bar and he was again in action in the 23rd minute when he played the
ball inside to Stuani who played the ball back to Callejon as he raced into the
area but Casilla was swiftly alert to the danger and stopped the attacker in his
tracks. Despite the apparent superiority up front at the back the home team were
struggling and within the first thirty minutes three of the back four had picked
up yellow cards. It was from the final booking to Uglessich, for a foul just
outside the area, that Nano Gonzalez stepped up and fired a great left footed
effort towards goal that Notario, the Albacete keeper managed to get a hand to
but was unable to stop the ball going in to make it 0-1 to Cadiz. Ogbeche tried
to connect with a cross from Nano but the Albacete defense managed to clear that
particular danger and then Caballero fired a shot goalwards that Notario this
time managed to catch.
Again
at the start of the second half Albacete started strongly but the Cadiz back
four are looking pretty strong so far this season and Casilla is rarely called
to action. The game was almost tied in the 62nd minute when Kike centred to
Stuani, who was free in the box but the Albacete forward was unable to get his
shot on goal and the danger passed. With time ticking on it was clear that Cadiz
were just trying to play the match out and take the one goal victory and with so
many players behind the ball the home team were finding it difficult to create
any clear cut chances. However Altobelli connected with a Merino centre but
Casilla was able to catch the effort pretty easily and then shortly before the
end Stuani went down in the area claiming a penalty, along with most of the
5,000 spectators but the referee waved the claims away and Cadiz were able to
hold out to the final whistle to take the match 0-1 and a second successive
victory.
Next Sunday the match against Cartagena kicks off in the Carranza at
21.00.
