Team news this week sees Abraham start instead of Caballero and Nano and Ogbeche starting their first games, replacing Lopez Silva and Toedtli respectively. Against a tough opponent recently descended from the Primera Liga los amarillos started well with the back four looking strong and a pretty defensive midfield line up being able to virtually control the game from the start however neither winger, Nano and Enrique, were really effective, which meant that Ogbeche, like Toedtli in the previous four starts, was looking pretty isolated and not receiving the right service. So that although Cadiz were looking fairly comfortable they really did not look dangerous going forward. Half way through the half the Nigerian did receive a pass to his feet from Abraham some five yards outside the area and he managed to swerve to the right and get a good shot away but the effort was about a yard wide of the right hand post. In the 26th minute a good break down the left through Cifuentes found the ball running free and Nano firing in with his right foot from the edge of the area, the ball took a deflection off a defenders boot and looked to be heading in but Bernardo, the Recreativo keeper, did extremely well to dive swiftly to his left to palm the ball away to keep the teams level. Another quick break down the left found Nano in a race to get to the bye line and he managed to get the ball square into the box but his cross was intercepted by a defender and the danger was easily cleared. Bernardo was also called to action to easily catch a couple of headers from Alvaro Silva and Ogbeche, whilst a great try after an Abraham corner by Erice saw the midfielders powerful header from the edge of the box fly just too high of the mark. At the other end of the pitch Casilla was a virtual spectator and was rarely called to do anything but when he was needed to collect the ball he looked comfortable.

The second half had barely started when Ogbeche was looking dangerous racing through the back line when Mora foiled his run by handling the ball leaving the referee with no option other than to show a yellow card, which was the Recreativo players second and off he went reducing the visitors to 10 men with virtually a whole half to play. With the numerical advantage it was now a case of whether Cadiz would be able to score, something they have found very difficult to do so far this season. To the delight of the cadistas the goal wasn't long in coming when in the 58th minute after a bit of a game of pinball in the Recreativo area after both Enrique and Abraham had passes come shots blocked the ball was running free in front of the goal and Ormazabal raced in and got to the ball first and slotted the ball home to make it 1-0. This goal seemed to wake up the visitors as they looked to try and force a draw, despite being a man down and Colunga beat Alvaro Silva for pace as he raced into the area but his effort from a pretty tight angle was well wide of the mark and the same man had another effort that was well over the bar. With the visitors now looking to attack it meant that there was plenty of spaces opening up and Velasco wasn't afraid to shoot with one effort too high and another rolling pretty easily to the keeper, Cifuentes had a great try when he spotted Bernardo off his line and the left back tried to fire the ball gently over the keeper from distance but, although it was over Bernardo, regrettably it was also a foot too high of the goal. Down the right Cristian at last received a ball from Enrique in a dangerous position and the little right back raced to the bye line before chipping the ball back into the middle of the goal where, amazingly, there were four yellow shirts waiting but his cross was intercepted by the only blue and white striped shirt and the danger was cleared. The hard working Ogbeche had a great chance to score his first for the club and double the lead for Cadiz when he was free five yards out when the ball was crossed in from the right but his powerful downward header bounced up into the hands of Bernardo and the score remained 1-0 at the final whistle.
