In the last game of the season, which is being played at the Carranza, against already relegated Real Madrid Castilla, the starting team for Cadiz is the same as started last week against Malaga except that Miguel Garcia returns in place of Buades.

In the first few minutes of the encounter it was all Cadiz, who were well and truly encamped in the Real Madrid Castilla half and it didn't take long for the pressure to tell. In the fourth minute Pavoni stole the ball in midfield and passed it forward to Enrique, who collected it at speed that took him beyond the visiting defence with only the keeper, Castilla, to beat, which he did with ease to put los amarillos ahead. It looked as if it was going to be a goal fest finale for Cadiz but completely against the run of play within ten minutes of the opening goal they found themselves trailing 1-2. Firstly in the tenth minute indecision at the back allowed Rayco to head the ball past Limia and then just two minutes later a mistake by the usually dependable Caneda let in Callejon to slot the ball into the net. Suddenly from such an encouraging start the lively crowd were shocked into silence.

However the team weren't rattled and kept playing with rhythm and purpose, with Pavoni, in particular causing the visitors no end of problems in the middle of the park and on numerous occasions he was able to release the ball wide to the speedy wingers, Sesma and Enrique, and they in turn put in many telling crosses that Castilla had to deal with. On one such occasion the ball found its way wide to the impressive Enrique and this time his cross was intercepted by Sanchez but his attempted clearance hit his own defender, Palencia, and rolled into the net to put Cadiz back to all square half way through the first period of the game. Although Cadiz were completely on top in the game the scoreboard showed a different story and the youngsters of Real Madrid Castilla still looked dangerous on the break. And so it was that just a couple of minutes before half time a great pass by De La Red found Nieto free and he fired in a good shot that beat Limia to once again put the visitors ahead. Los amarillos immediately came back looking for another equaliser and again it was that man Enrique who went past three of the opposition before putting in a good cross that Acuņa headed just inches wide as the referee blew for half time.

The second half was played at a completely different pace with Cadiz passing the ball more across the middle and waiting for an opening rather than trying to make something happen. Although this nullified the attack of the visitors it also greatly reduced the attacking game of Cadiz. After twenty minutes of the second half Jose Gonzalez took off the best two players of the first half, Pavoni and Enrique, and put on Lucas Lobos and the very impressive Pablo Hernandez, who is due to return to Getafe and therefore making his last appearance for Cadiz. This change seemed to revitalise the Cadiz attack and the crowd who rose as one to cheer on their team. The cacophony of songs lasted fully ten minutes and the team responded positively to the amazing support when in the 78th minute Lobos  superbly controlled the ball in the area spun and fired past the helpless Castilla to make it 3-3. For the rest of the game the support for Cadiz was relentless and the team powered forward looking for a winner to reward their adoring fans, whilst the visitors seemed shell shocked by the relentless sound made by the fans. Unfortunately the winner would not come but it was good to see, and hear, the affection for the team that make the Cadiz fans some of the best in Spain.

After all the other results have come in Cadiz have kept their fifth place in the league, which, although hopes were high of promotion back to the Primera Liga, cannot really be called a bad season. A slightly disappointing one maybe but with a solid core of squad players hopes must continue to be high for next year.
