FotoTeam news this week sees several changes from the starting line up. Vella starts his first league game of the season replacing the injured Cristian, whilst Yago Yao returns from International duty to replace the injured De La Cuesta. In midfield Rivas and Parri both start their first full game together at the heart of the centre with Bezares and Fleurquin taking their places on the bench. Finally Pavoni starts in place of Casas, who took a slight knock last week but still makes the subs bench.

Without a point so far this season Alaves looked to perform well in front of their home fans and started strongly right from the first whistle. Although they enjoyed much of the possession Cadiz were not panicked and easily dealt with the onslaught, with most threat coming from long balls into the box, which mostly Contreras handled with ease. The first clear chance that fell to Cadiz again came from the right side where Enrique put in a super cross to the far post where Dani was running in but he was unable to direct the ball goalwards. When Cadiz had the ball going forward the midfield partnership of Rivas and Parri looked promising but it was still Alaves who looked the more dangerous and they upped the pressure leading up to half time but the Cadiz defence held solid and just before the break Cadiz actually had the best chance when Parri fired in a low free kick into the area that rebounded between players legs before the Alaves keeper managed to grab the loose ball and the half ended as it had started at 0-0.

FotoThe second half started badly for Cadiz with the home side causing more and more problems and to add to the woes for los amarillos in the 61st minute Enrique collected an injury that forced him off to be replaced by Gustavo Lopez, to make his league debut. He moved to the left wing while Lobos took up Enriques position on the right. Within seconds of the substitution Cadiz were under intense pressure with the home side winning six corners in quick succession and from the last of these David Aganzo rose in the middle of the area about 6 yards out and headed the ball past the despairing Contreras to make it 1-0 to Alaves. The joy of the home fans was short lived when within two minutes of the goal Dani chased a ball to the edge of the opposition area and the ball ran free for Parri to follow up and fire a good left foot shot into the bottom of the goal to bring Cadiz back on level terms.
Soon after the equaliser and to shore up the centre Remon pushed on Fleurquin to replace Lobos, with the club captain taking up his usual position in the centre of midfield with Parri moving to the right. In the 30 minutes that he was on the pitch Gustavo Lopez looks a good buy with a couple of dangerous shots that caused the Alaves keeper some problems and he also put in some excellent crosses.

In the final minutes both teams had chances to score again and take all three points. Firstly Alaves got the ball into the box in front of goal with two players, Mena and Aganzo, both bearing down but they seemed to get in each others way and the ball went safely wide. Casas, who had come on for Pavoni, had a strong shot that just went into the side netting and then Parri also had another effort that went straight into the hands of the Alaves keeper to keep the score at 1-1 at the final whistle. There are no easy games in this league and any points won away from home are worthwhile, especially if you can keep winning at home, which Cadiz hope to do next Saturday, when they entertain the newly promoted Cordoba, the team that they beat in the last round of the Copa del Rey.
