BACK TO FIXTURES & RESULTS PREVIOUS GAME NEXT GAME
Right from the first whistle it was clear that both sides were desperate for the three points with Malaga chasing hard for promotion and Cadiz trying desperately to avoid the relegation places. Both teams worked hard but neither really controlled the contest or created any clear cut chances and plenty of the action took place in the middle of the park, where passes were going astray and possession was being lost. For Cadiz the idea of Paz playing in a pivotal role in front of the back four looked to be a good one as the experienced and intelligent Portuense player was able to create time on the ball and push the team forward with a simple pass through to the midfield players or wingers ahead of him. Natalio and Dani didn't look as comfortable playing wide and the 2 top scorers this season looked out of place, although Natalio did have the best effort of the first half when his 38th minute shot from outside the area was only just wide of the mark. The ever dependable Bezares was doing what he does best and cutting out plenty of the Malaga attacks but Parri, tonight, was not up to the job of creating chances for the front runners so there were very few goal occasions for Casas, Dani or Natalio. However Limia was rarely troubled at the other end so the first half ended all square and, by and large, it was a satisfying start for Julian Rubios men.
With the other results this weekend both Xerez and Albacete have leap-frogged Cadiz in the table, although los amarillos are still a point ahead of the relegation places and the next home game, another Andalucian derby, against Sevilla Athletic next week remains a must win for Cadiz.
