Just three changes to the team that started last week against local rivals Xerez; Limia started in goal, with Armando having a rest on the bench, Sesma started in place of Nano and Acuņa started in place of De Paula, who also moved to the bench.

The visit to Real Valladolid looked to be one of the toughest encounters still facing Cadiz before the end of the season. Valladolid have been the best team in the division this year and have already won promotion to the Primera Liga and are the likely champions, although they still have some work to do to win the crown.

The match started without any real rhythm to the play with the home team playing with confidence but with no real urgency, like a team who were already promoted. Cadiz, on the other hand were rushing their passes and were eager to impress but, after the defeat last week, were clearly playing very nervously. The flow of the game changed in the 14th minute when Victor took a free kick from wide left near the halfway line. His kick to the right corner should have been cut out easily by Sesma, running back, but he missed the ball and it fell to Sisi, who crossed the ball into the area, where Manchev had a free header in front of goal and he made no mistake in putting the ball past the helpless Limia to make it 1-0 to the home team. This goal seemed to spur Valladolid forward and the Cadiz defense had to weather the storm for a good 10 minutes after the opening goal. On one of the occasions that Valladolid broke through Capdevilla rushed through in a one on one with Limia, who did well to foil the forward twice and keep Cadiz in the contest. Gradually los amarillos played their way back into the game with Pablo and Lucas Lobos, in particular, combining well. In the 27th minute Lobos rose to head home a Miguel Garcia centre but he was adjudged offside and the goal didn't count. Cadiz continued to play well leading up to half time and just two minutes from the break Pablo ran onto a good pass from Sesma and was adjudged to have been fouled in the area to give Cadiz a chance to get back on level terms from the spot. Up stepped Lobos to take the penalty but his effort was blocked by Alberto, in the Valladolid goal but fortunately for Lobos it came back to him to be able to slot the ball home from the rebound and make it all square at half time.

The second half began with a couple of yellow cards being handed out to Lobos and Sesma, which appeared to be extremely harsh. Most of the play was being controlled by the home side but the first clear chance of the half fell to Acuņa, who ran onto a good pass from Miguel Garcia but the young Paraguayan rushed his shot and blasted the ball over the onrushing Alberto and also over the goal. Within the next five minutes Acuņa had another couple of similar chances, which he was unable to convert, but it was good to see a Cadiz forward actually getting forward into the opposition box with the ball at their feet and causing problems to the defense. At this point of the game Cadiz were holding the home team well and causing them many problems but all was to change just a quarter of an hour into the second half when Cadiz won a corner but Fleurquin had an apparent rush of blood and lashed out at one of the opposition, which the referee saw and had no hesitation in showing him a direct red card. Jose Gonzalez immediately substituted Acuņa for Bezares to shore up the middle of the park. Despite their one man advantage Valladolid seemed content to play out the draw and didn't press forward as was expected. They even allowed Cadiz to press on and long shots from Pablo, was well saved by Alberto, and Miguel Garcia, who's fine effort was ruled out for a seemingly non existent foul. With just 15 minutes remaining though Valladolid were awarded a free kick on the left and again the centre was met by the unchallenged Manchev, who had no problem in heading the ball past Limia to make it 2-1 to the home team and leaving 10 man Cadiz with an uphill struggle to try and get something from the game. With nothing to lose Gonzalez threw on Pavoni and Enrique to replace Miguel Garcia and Pablo and the fresh legs certainly brought the visitors to life with Pavoni and Lobos playing well together. With just 5 minutes left a good pass from Lobos went to Enrique, who went on a storming run down the right wing and crossed low into the box where Sesma ran on to the ball and fired los amarillos level.

It was a great result for Cadiz against such strong opposition but as has happened too often this season they did enough to take all three points but ended up dropping two. With the sides really close after the top three it is important for Cadiz to finish the season strongly and keep them in the top half a dozen.
