After last weeks win against Albacete after playing with a man down for the whole of the second half, it looks as if some confidence is returning to the side. Against high flying league leaders, and almost certain to gain promotion, Numancia los amarillos came, on a pretty cold night, to do battle and they more than held their own at the start of the match. Once again Cristian and Enrique seemed to be working well together down the right with the two Lopez', Raul and Gustavo doing the same, whilst Dani and Natalio were causing problems around the goal and Bezares and Miguel Garcia were strong and competitive in the middle of the park. In defense Cadiz have never really had a problem in this area of the park and they have always been difficult to break down. In the 21st minute the best opportunity of the opening session fell to Dani, who latched onto a Gustavo Lopez cross but his header was high of the mark. At the other end Alvarez looked dangerous with his free kicks and Moreno and Jorda, looked powerful in the air, which is where the home team looked the most dangerous but Contreras and his defense held strong. Towards the end of the first half the Cadiz area was somewhat under siege but Numancia, although having much the better possession at that time, were unable to make any clear cut chance and the half ended as it had started at 0-0.

news this week sees De la Cuesta join Paz at the heart of the defense, whilst
Caneda serves his one match ban after his red card last week. That is the only
change to the side which started the game against Albacete, although another new
face on the bench brought in by Procopio is Manu Barreiro, who comes up from the
B team where he has been a goal scoring front man.
Shortly
into the second half Procopio threw on Fleurquin in place of Bezares, who like
his midfield partner, Miguel Garcia, had picked up a yellow card. The entry of
the big Uruguayan into the fray certainly helped los amarillos to deal more
easily with the aerial threat from the home side and Cadiz were once again
fighting for everything and pressurising Numancia and were giving as good as
they got. With Numancia losing the ball on many occasions the confidence through
the Cadiz team was visibly growing and when the Polish international, Kosowski,
came on to replace Enrique in the 75th minute, his fresh legs enabled him to
cause even more problems down the right band. Just five minutes after coming on
to the pitch Kosowski put a super ball into the area from a corner, which De la
Cuesta jumped to head the ball goalwards and Dani was there just a yard from
goal to turn the ball past the keeper and defenders on the line to make it 0-1
to Cadiz. Despite a strong fight back from the league leaders the Cadiz goal
remained in tact and a very valuable three points has been added to the tally of
los amarillos.
