Four changes from the team that started the game last week with De Quintana returning to the centre of defence, Abel Buades was in for the suspended Fleurquin, Lobos started in place of Nano and De Paula replaced Medina up front.

There are many teams, like Cadiz, who are chasing the top 3 hoping that they can get into the promotion places if they could only go on a winning run. Albacete are one such team who are just 4 points adrift of Cadiz and they started the game in a very positive way looking to soak up any early pressure from Cadiz and to attack whenever possible. They were strong in midfield and in fact the first opportunity fell to the visitors when in the fifth minute Zahínos hooked a ball from the edge of the area which forced Armando into making a great save by tipping it over for a corner.

This seemed to act as a wake up call for los amarillos and a lively Abel Buades and De Paula in particular looked dangerous going forward but it was Pablo, who has been outstanding for Cadiz this season, who was causing the visitors most problems. Firstly his super pass to Pavoni found the Uruguyan in front of goal but before he could decide whether to control the ball or shoot on the volley Javi, in the Albacete goal, had come out and collected the ball. Shortly after good play from Velazquez down the left found his cross picked up by Pablo and his goal bound shot was deflected for a corner.

The game continued to be a very contested affair with many interruptions for free kicks. The next chance fell to Cadiz in the 35th minute when Velazquez again played well dribbling past a couple of players before pushing the ball wide to Vella on the right, who put a great cross over which De Paula was just unable to head goalwards. Cadiz continued to press for the opening goal and good play from Lobos saw De Paula with another attempt which went for a corner and the first half ended all square with neither side able to find the back of the net.

The worst possible start to the second half for Cadiz came after just one minute of the restart when some brilliant play by the Albacete forward, Calle saw him in the area with a clear chance on goal before being fouled by Bezares. The referee was in no doubt that it was a penalty to Albacete and also a straight red card for Bezares to reduce Cadiz to 10 men for the whole of the second half. Calle himself converted the penalty to put the visitors 1-0 up.

Despite the numerical disadvantage José González knew that the points were vital and so he threw caution to the wind when almost immediately he took off De Quintana and put on Miguel Garcia and played with just the three at the back. The crowd gave their all in trying to lift the team and will them forward to take the victory. The team responded well with most of the forward play coming from los amarillos, whilst Albacete seemed to be relying on using the speed of Calle on the break.

The best chance for Cadiz to equalise came in the 61st minute when a good cross from Pavoni found the head of De Paula but his header deflected off the left post and behind for a goal kick although to many in the ground it looked as if the ball had gone in. Just a minute later Pablo took a free kick from outside the area which Javi did well to turn wide for a corner. The corner count to Cadiz kept increasing and from another corner, De Paula had another header which just flew wide of the goal with the keeper well beaten.

With all the pressure surely the goal was going to come to bring the teams level but whatever they threw at the Albacete goal it just wasn't happening. This all changed when in the 75th minute the referee adjudged that De Paula had been fouled in the area and awarded Cadiz a penalty. Up stepped Miguel Garcia, as he had done a couple of weeks ago against Hercules, to stroke the ball past Javi to make it 1-1.

With 15 minutes still left the crowd and the team were now looking for the victory, whilst Albacete seemed happy to go away with a point and were time wasting whenever they could. Despite piling on the pressure Cadiz were unable to break through and get a good sight of goal. Then suddenly in the final minutes Albacete seemed to be encamped on the edge of the Cadiz area and were awarded three free kicks in quick succession, which were dealt with well by the defense but then in the third minute of time added on up popped Calle again to slot the ball past Armando to break the hearts of the home fans and record a 1-2 victory to Albacete.

This was another devastating result for Cadiz and a bitter blow to their hopes of regaining immediate promotion back to the Primera Liga. Although it is becoming more and more unlikely that they will get the promotion there are still plenty of points to play for and it is still possible, depending on the results from those clubs above Cadiz in the league.
