As
expected the only team change this week sees Toedtli return up front after his
suspension last week. The third trip away from home played on an artificial
pitch and a similar result to the previous occasions at Portuense and Granada
where los amarillos took all three points. The first half was pretty nondescript
with neither side creating much or dominating any periods of the half and in the
first thirty minutes there were really only a couple of efforts from Velasco and
Ortiz from the home team that kept the fans awake, whilst from Cadiz the best
chance fell to Ormazabal just before half time after Caballero played in Enrique
who crossed for the Argentinian midfielder to run onto but his effort was
straight at Garcia, the Lucena keeper, who caught the ball with relative ease.
Thankfully
the second half was much better with Cadiz coming out and playing more down the
wings spreading the home team and starting to create spaces for players to run
into but it was a cross from Raul Lopez that spelt danger for the home team when
Toedtli rose to head the ball goalwards but Garcia was able to catch the ball
again. Then just ten minutes into the half, against the run of play the ball was
booted over the Cadiz back line for Ortiz to run onto past Raul Lopez and
collect the ball before beating Casilla to make it 1-0, although the Cadiz
players were adamant that the Lucena scorer was offside but the officials did
not agree and the goal stood. As has happened on a number of occasions this
season after going behind this Cadiz team come fighting back and within two
minutes of going behind Lopez Silva played the ball through for Enrique to run
onto and slot the ball home but this time the officials did wave for offside and
the goal was ruled out. However the visitors did not have to wait much longer to
get back on terms when in the 61st minute Ormazabal collected the ball on the
edge of the area with his back to goal and turned to his right before firing the
ball home to make it 1-1. With Cadiz now pressing hard the home team
looked nervous and it looked as if there was only going to be one result by the
end of the game, a victory for Cadiz but in fact the next clear chance fell to
the home team when Babin headed just wide from a corner. With just three minutes
to go Toedtli collected the ball after a free kick into the area was half
cleared , he feigned to shoot with his right
before switching the ball to his left and firing in a left footed shot past Garcia to make it 1-2 to Cadiz and
another three points to add to their already very healthy total, which, with the
other results of the day, has increased their lead at the top of the table to
nine points with just nine games left.
