With both teams desperate for points there seemed to be plenty of tension around the pitch with plenty of passes going astray and Antonio Calderon unusually animated on the sidelines. Gustavo Lopez continued where he left off last week when he fired in a powerful free kick after just 2 minutes that Serans, in the Ejido goal, had to be alert to deal with. A few minutes later and Paz, recalled to the starting line up after an absence of several games, headed just wide. More efforts followed from Gustavo Lopez who fired high from distance and from Fleurquin who headed over from a corner. Although the visitors are languishing just one place off the bottom recently they have been picking up good points and they were prepared to close Cadiz down quickly and were willing to have their fair share of shots at goal although nearly all were off target. Contreras was only called into action once when he had to comfortably collect a header from Bermejo after a cross from Moreno.

It was still Cadiz who looked the more likely to score and they almost broke the deadlock in the 20th minute when a good passage of play ended with Gustavo Lopez crossing from the left to the edge of the box in front of goal where Enrique did well to get a shot off on goal but Serans was equal to it and managed to dive to his right to keep the ball out. Five minutes later and los amarillos were one up when that man Natalio scored. The ball came in from the right which Bangoura leapt to head challenged by the centre half and the ball bounced out to the edge of the box where the on loan Valencian waited for it to drop before firing the ball past the Ejido keeper and into the net to make it 1-0. He almost scored again within two minutes but this time his effort was too high. It wasn't all Cadiz however and in the 33rd minute Vacas had a powerful right foot shot that flew just wide of Contreras' post but Cadiz finished the half strongly and Bangoura was unlucky when he managed to beat the keeper to head a Gustavo Lopez free kick goalwards only to see a defender clear his effort off the line.

FotoThe Ejido manager made a couple of early changes at the start of the second half which seemed to give the visitors a bit more impetus going forward and they looked to gain the territorial advantage but without causing Contreras any problems. The attempts they had were all from distance and either high or wide of the mark until the 67th minute when Contreras had to drop to the floor to block a low effort that came in from outside the area. With the visitors throwing everything forward Cadiz were on the back foot when in the 84th minute Fleurquin was in possession near the Cadiz box and he pumped the ball forward into space behind the Ejido defence. As Serans came flying out of his box to intercept the ball Juan Diaz, his central defender, was unaware of the keeper rushing out and headed the ball back towards the Ejido area and past his keeper. Natalio was quick to pounce and in a race with the keeper he just got to the ball first before it ran out of play and managed to clip it in from a tight angle to make it 2-0. Within two minutes of his second goal of the game he almost got his hat trick, when good play by Enrique ended with him clipping the ball purposely back into the path of Natalio where he volleyed the ball goalwards but this time his aim was slightly off and the ball smashed into the post before bouncing back, to be cleared by a defender. That was his last touch of the game as Calderon took him off so that he could receive the rousing ovation that he truly deserved for his displays for los amarillos. The visitors continued to try and score with several long range efforts in the short time left but to no avail and Cadiz finished as the 2-0 victors.
