The only change made to the team that started against Castellon last week was the welcome return of De Quintana from injury to partner Caneda in the centre of defence, with Neru returning to the subs bench.

After the defeat in Castellon the fans were hoping for a rousing display in the Carranza to lift the spirits and kickstart the push for promotion. Unfortunately it was not to be and Cadiz were unable to dominate in the way they have started in many games recently. Most of the play was in midfield and it was a scrappy affair with Hercules getting the best effort in the 10th minute, when a shot from Albacar  brought out a great save from Armando to keep the teams all square.  Then in the 24th minute a cross from Velazquez was put back into the danger area by Sesma and as Medina controlled the ball he was fouled and won a penalty, which Miguel Garcia converted to put los amarillos 1-0 up. Despite the lead Cadiz still failed to dominate their opponents and the match continued to be rather dull and the crowd seemed flat after last weeks loss at Castellon. The crowd came to life in the 42nd minute when Miguel Garcia was sent off for his second bookable offence, which looked very harsh and the club are appealing the second booking.

Because of Miguel Garcias expulsion from the game Gonzalez rang the changes at half time bringing on Neru and Bezares to replace Velazquez and Medina. Almost at the same time Hercules also made a double substitution to play a more attacking game with the one man advantage. Hercules had most possession as they used the extra man to good effect, whilst Cadiz looked for long balls to set Sesma and Pablo free down the wings. Pablo was again the main threat, and on one occasion he set up Fleurquin but his shot deflected onto the post with the keeper well beaten.

Armando was the busier keeper though and this was probably his busiest game of the season so far. He made a great point blank save from Moises on the edge of the six yard box. Cadiz could not hold on though and with just 12minutes left Ariel Montenegro scored a great goal from 25 yards into the top left corner, which Armando had no chance of reaching. With a final throw of the dice in the 83rd minute Jose Gonzalez took off Neru and put on Nano tp try and steal the three points. It was not to be and the match finished all square at 1-1.

Although the draw was a set back the results of the other teams around Cadiz meant that not too much damage was caused. Apart from Valladolid at the top, who won, all the other teams in the top 6 either lost or drew. In fact Almeria let a two goal lead slip against ten men, so not much has changed apart from a game less to reduce the deficit.  A win this week  against Alaves could give the team and fans the momentum needed to mount a serious challenge.
