Two
forced changes this week sees Raul Lopez come into the centre of defence to replace
the suspended Alvaro Silva, whilst on the
right with no Enrique available Ramis makes his first start for los amarillos. A
fired up Cadiz started brightly showing a great attitude and dominating the home
side in the opening minutes, looking well disciplined and controlling the ball
with good possession, movement and passing. After just six minutes they had
already had the first corners and Lopez Silva had two good opportunities to open
the scoring but his rushed efforts were off the mark. Gradually Recreativo were
getting more into the game and started making progress towards the Cadiz box and
after a quarter of an hour they claimed a penalty for a push by Raul Lopez but
the referee waved play on. In the 23rd minute the home side looked dangerous as
they approached the Cadiz area but the final shot was off target but it was los
amarillos who looked the more dangerous with both Cristian and Raul Lopez making
excursions from the back to overlap down the wings but in the 33rd minute it was
Erice who crossed from the left and the ball just skimmed off Toedtli and there
was Ramis at the back post to fire the ball past Guaita, the Recre keeper, to
make it 0-1. The goal also and an effect on the home side and again it was Cadiz
who looked like the home side as they continued to press forward and control the
game. They could have even gone in at the break with a two goal lead when
Abraham had a good chance just before the end of the half but his effort from
inside the area was blocked and the half ended 0-1.
With
Cadiz dominating so much Raul Agne, the Recreativo trainer made two changes
right at the start of the second half with one of the oncoming players being
Pablo Sanchez, the ex Cadiz player but again it was los amarillos who looked
dangerous and in the first minute of the half Toedtli played the ball to Raul
Lopez but his shot was off target. A minute later and it was a penalty to Cadiz
when the ball hit the hand of Troest in the area and the referee gave it. Up
stepped Toedtli but Guaita had guessed correctly and was able to push the effort
away and so it remained just 0-1. That miss seemed to act as a spur for the home
side and it was the substitutes who were making the difference and when another
ex Cadista, Dani, came on after 20 minutes of the half the home side looked a
lot more dangerous going forward at pace and in the 68th minute a low cross from
Carmona was poked home by Pablo Sanchez who beat Mansilla to the ball. With
still some twenty minutes left the game suddenly opened up and either side could
have won with chances a plenty and probably the best ones fell to los amarillos.
Cristian had a goalbound shot well palmed away by Guaita, then Erice had a great
chance to head home from short distance completely unchallenged but he managed
to nod it wide and then Nano failed to convert a Cristian cross. At the other
end Casilla was called to action to save an effort from Dani and then in time
added on Mansilla fouled Dani on the edge of the Cadiz box and Anton fired in
the resultant free kick to make it 2-1 to the home side. Another three points
goes astray and los amarillos are losing ground on safety but they are playing
some good football and should be further up the table but at the moment they are
just not able to close games out and are looking so nervous as the final whistle
approaches.
