Foto jornadaTeam news this week sees Natalio start in midfield with Parri moving over to the left to cover the position left by the suspension of Gustavo Lopez. With Paz and Raul Lopez still recovering from their knocks the back four is the same as started last week in Granada.

The opening ten minutes or so were played mainly across the centre of the park with neither side really taking control of the game, although Cadiz looked the more comfortable on the ball. In the thirteenth minute Cadiz were attacking with the impressive Natalio looking dangerous on the ball and it was his ball through the defense that allowed Dani to race into the area and nick it wide of Juan Pablo, in the Tenerife goal, who then appeared to take Dani's leg away for what looked like a clear cut penalty but to the astonishment of the Carranza the referee waved play on and gave nothing (TV replays showed that it was a challenge that probably 99 times out of a 100 would be given as a penalty; unfortunately this was the 1 in a 100 time). Ten minutes after this defining point a quick break out of defence saw Cadiz in a 3 on 3 with the ball at the feet of Enrique, who slipped it to his right where Natalio was racing alongside him but, with just the keeper ahead of him, Natalios effort was a fairly tame affair that went straight into the arms of Juan Pablo. A couple of minutes later and Tenerife had their first real chance of the game when a shot from the left side of the Cadiz box went across the face of Contreras and finished a yard wide of the far post.

In the 29th minute los amarillos had another quick break out from the back and it was Natalio again who had the ball at his feet just inside the visitors half. He raced forward and chose to shoot instead of playing Enrique in, who was free on the right, but his curling effort finished just over the bar from 25 yards out. A couple of minutes later and the biggest threat to Cadiz conceding happened when Caneda took far too long to clear the ball away from danger and as he dwelt on the ball his attempt at a clearance was charged down by Blanco and the ball bounced free just ahead of the Tenerife player with just Contreras to beat. Thankfully for Cadiz and Caneda in particular Blanco took too long to decide on a shot or a cross across goal, which gave Caneda time to get back and block the shot/cross from Blanco and put it behind for a corner. With the first half drawing to an end the visitors were having their best spell of the game and in the 37th minute they had their best effort of the half when a shot from distance flew goalwards but was straight at Contreras who had little trouble in dealing with the danger. Cadiz came back and with just three minutes to half time the best chance of the game fell again to Dani, when Natalio slipped a super ball through the Tenerife defense for Dani to run onto but he took a quick look across to the linesman to check that he was onside and that slight delay gave Juanma time to get back and pull off a great block as Dani finally got his shot away to keep the score at 0-0 at the end of the first half.

FotoThe second half was virtually all Cadiz and just four minutes into the half Enrique had a shot from 20 yards out that flew wide of the mark. A minute later and it was Enrique again who looked to fire a cross over but it turned into a shot that Juan Pablo had to leap to tip over the bar. In the tenth minute of the half a Parri free kick was lobbed to the far post where De Quintana was free but from a very narrow angle he could only head the ball into the hands of the keeper. A couple of minutes later and the only danger to Cadiz in the whole of the second half came when Contreras dropped a fairly innocuous looking cross but he was able to collect the ball again before anyone else could react. Still Cadiz attacked the Tenerife goal looking for a breakthrough and it almost came in the 59th minute when a super free kick from Miguel Garcia, who had a good game, flew just inches over the head of Dani in front of goal and the ball was scrambled away by the keeper. Four minutes later and Fleurquin volleyed the ball goalwards from an Enrique corner that Juan Pablo had to dive to his left to punch away. Another four minutes into the half and it was Enrique again who raced in from the wing with the ball at his feet past two defenders before firing in a good left foot shot that went just wide of the post with the keeper well beaten. In the 71st minute Bangoura, who had just come on to make his debut for Cadiz, almost hooked the ball home but his effort was just blocked by a defender and the ball trickled just the wrong side of the post and behind for a corner. In the 75th minute Enrique put a super ball over with the outside of his right foot that Natalio met with power to head the ball goalwards but he could only watch in despair as the ball smashed into the post and away to safety. A couple of minutes later and Enrique had another effort that flew over the bar when he could have slipped the ball through to Bangoura, who had made a great run into space. With just ten minutes left Kosowski, who had also come on to make his debut for Cadiz, put in a great cross to the far post where Bangoura was free but his header, although downwards, was back across the goal rather than goalwards but Fleurquin was racing through and claimed he was pulled back as he tried to reach the ball to clip it home. Again the referee waved away the protests and played on. Deep into the time added on Enrique did well to hook a bouncing ball goalwards from inside the area but he could only hold his head in his hands when he saw the ball smash into the side netting to leave the score at 0-0 at the final whistle.

This was a good display by los amarillos which deserved a bumper goalfest that the Carnaval weekend was screaming out for and more importantly a vital three points. Unfortunately it was not to be but there were times when they looked like a team that should be challenging for the division title. The new signings showed well with Natalio the man of the match, Kosowski had some good touches and put in one great cross that could have resulted in a goal and Bangoura almost scored on his debut and made some super instinctive runs into danger areas, which at the moment came to nothing, but as his team mates get on the same wave length he should be knocking a good few goals in.
