The first team selection from Victor Esparrago had a strangely Gracia look about it, although the Uruguyan only arrived in Cadiz on Wednesday so it was unlikely that the fans could expect anything else, as Fragoso moved back into the back four to replace Mansilla, whilst Erice returns to the midfield after his suspension and Ormazabal returns after being dropped last week to replace Abraham and finally up front is Toedtli, the only fit forward available today. The crowd gave a rousing reception to Esparrago as he took his place on the Cadiz bench and up against him today was another ex Cadiz trainer in the form of Antonio Calderon, who is now the trainer at Huesca and was at Cadiz back in 2008. From the first whistle it was Cadiz who looked to go forward, although there was more direct football today with balls over the top and cross field balls but it rarely came off, against a visitor who was content to get numbers behind the ball. After just four minutes a great chance for los amarillas, the ball was played across field from the left into the area where a more confident Enrique would normally tried to fire home on the volley but on this occasion he tried to clip the ball back into the middle where Fran Cortes had run into space. The ball however was a bit behind Cortes and as he tried to get the ball from under his feet Doblas, the Huesca keeper, was able to make a pretty easy block to keep the teams all square. With the visitors looking happy to take a point from the game Cadiz certainly had a lot of possession but despite all the effort they were unable to create any clear cut chances and Doblas was not really troubled again. Toedtli headed over from a free kick as did Alvaro Silva, who was in a much better position and should have got the ball on target. Enrique caused problems in the area again with the ball bouncing loose and the Huesca defense in disarray but he was unable to get to the free ball and nor could any other Cadiz player as they were slow in racing into the box and so the danger was cleared. With the ball spending a lot of the time in the air the game was a pretty scrappy affair with neither side playing with any control and the first half ended as it had started at 0-0.

Like the first half a great chance came after just four minutes had been played when Lopez Silva crossed from the left and the ball cleared the back line with Ormazabal running through with just the keeper ahead of him but his brave diving header flew well wide of the mark. With the Cadiz players at least showing some passion and determination Casilla was a virtual spectator during the whole game and was only called to pluck balls out of the air. But for all the attacking Doblas did not have a single shot to save in the second half with Cortes trying a shot that was too high, Fragoso nodded a header too high, Enrique was again through in a great position when on another day he would have tried to fire home but again he tried to clip the ball back into the centre but it was intercepted and cleared with ease. The crowd came alive during the half only when the referee ordered Toedtli to wait on the side lines as he had changed a boot and then left the Cadiz forward waiting off the pitch for at least two minutes until the ball next went out of play. Enrique also had a great run into the area but looked uncertain in what to do and as he rounded one defender he seemed to loose balance and went down with the crowd screaming for a penalty but the referee made the right decision and waved play on. With just three minutes to the final whistle De La Vega picked up a second yellow card for throwing the ball away at a throw in and the visitors were reduced to just the 10 men. However there was no time for los amarillos to try and capitalise on their numerical superiority and so the game ended a very disappointing 0-0. With the next two games away from the Carranza this is a really tough time for the new trainer to come in and try and turn around the fortunes of the team but we can only hope that the yellow submarine starts to stabilise swiftly and then starts moving upwards.
