Just
one change to the starting line up tonight with Enrique returning after his one
match suspension to replace Nano, who starts a two match ban after being sent
off last week, and Lopez Silva moves back to the left wing.
The opening quarter of an hour saw the home team probably just about win the
battle but without really causing too much danger except for a dangerous cross
from Isaac that was headed goalwards by Natalio but Casilla was able to easily
stop the effort. In the 20th minute Cadiz were awarded a free kick just outside
the Murcia area and Tristan fired in a great shot that Alberto, the Murcia
keeper, looked to have just managed to tip the ball on to the woodwork but the
ball bounced back into play and Enrique was lurking and converted the loose ball
to put los amarillos one up. A minute later and the home side had the ball in
the net through Fernandez but it was ruled out for offside. The last part of the
half clearly belonged to Cadiz as they powered forward and Tristan was unlucky
to be thwarted again by Alberto in the 22nd minute, this was followed just
seconds later by another chance for Tristan who was played in by Ogbeche but as
he prepared to shoot the ball bobbled and his effort flew high over the bar.
With Cadiz being unable to add to their lead whilst dominating the ball it was
the home side that finished the half stronger with, ex Cadista, Natalio looking
dangerous and again Casilla was well placed to stop an effort from the Murcia
player.
Early
in the second half los amarillos were in a dangerous position but the final ball
from Lopez Silva to Tristan was poor and the danger soon passed. After this
occasion the home side started pushing forward more and were looking a bit more
dangerous and in the 55th minute it was that man Natalio who centred from the
right and Isaac headed the ball home to make it 1-1. A couple of minutes later
and Natalio was played in but was well off the mark but still the danger
continued and Chando had a shot that Alvaro Silva managed to block the effort.
Against the run of play Cadiz broke a few minutes later and the ball was played
to Cortes who controlled the ball well with his right leg before firing in a
left footed shot to make it 1-2 to los amarillos. However the Cadiz joy was
short lived when just two minutes later Cristian picked up a second yellow card
to become the third Cadiz player in as many weeks to be sent off, forcing Cadiz
to play with just the 10 men with still about 25 minutes to go. This spurred the
home team on and their trainer threw on attacking players to replace defenders
looking to capitalise on the numerical superiority but, by and large, the home
side failed to dominate and cause too many problems. Until with less than three
minutes left of normal time the ball was loose in the Cadiz area and Chando
pounced to make it 2-2, which was the final score.
Thats a four game unbeaten run, since the 4-0 hammering at Girona, but
regrettably three of those games have been draws, which leaves Cadiz
precariously placed near the drop zone, although just 8 points from fourth
place.
