 Team news this week sees Zlamal start his first match to replace the
suspended Casilla, whilst in the middle of the park Nano starts with Enrique on
the bench and Caballero replaces Abraham. The first half started with neither
side taking control of the game and both teams had a half chance within the
opening minutes. First was for the home side that ended with the ball bouncing
off a Cadiz defender and away to safety, whilst at the other end Nano crossed in
front of the keeper with Lopez Silva racing in and he managed to get a half shot
away but the ball went behind off a Girona defender. Just before the quarter
hour Nano took a free kick some 22 yards out with his left foot that went
through the wall but straight at the keeper who easily collected it. Four
minutes later and another chance to los amarillos when the ball was half cleared
to the edge of the Girona box where the right back, Cristian, was lurking in the
centre but his effort was deflected wide of the mark. In the 21st minute Fragoso
was caught out by a high ball over the top and the Girona centre was through
with just Zlamal to beat but he toe poked his effort beyond the far post. The
home side could easily have been reduced to ten men after half an hour when the,
already booked, Bernaus committed another foul that looked like a bookable
offence but luckily for the Girona defender the referee only gave the free kick
to Cadiz without further punishment to the home side. Before the end of
the first forty five minutes Lopez Silva had another shot but it was wide of the
mark and Raton also had a shot for Girona that was high of the mark and the half
ended as it had begun with both teams with eleven players and the score at 0-0.
 Within
a minute of the second half starting Ogbeche had a good left foot shot from the
edge of the area but it was straight at Jonquera, the Girona keeper, who had no
problems in claiming the ball. However it was the home side that turned up the
heat with some powerful attacking play and in the 51st minute a third break in
as many minutes saw the ball cleared by the Cadiz defence but it went free some
20 odd yards from goal and Matamala ran in and fired a super left foot volley
that flew no more than a foot off the ground and into the goal past the
despairing Zlamal to make it 1-0. Four minutes later and poor defending from the
Cadiz centre backs allowed Peragon to race free towards the edge of the box
going away from goal with Zlamal racing off his line to try and intercept the
Girona forward and although it was the home man who just got to the ball first,
the Cadiz keeper did appear to clearly manage to get a hand to the ball as
Peragon went over but the referee blew for a foul and a penalty, whilst booking
the unfortunate Zlamal. Peragon picked himself up and fired the penalty in to
make it 2-0. Los amarillos tried to fight back and around the quarter hour mark
of the second half Ogbeche headed a Caballero corner straight at Jonquera. A
couple of minutes later and Nano put Ogbeche free down the left wing, the
Nigerian cut inside two defenders before slipping the ball back to the edge of
the area where Ormazabal shot wide of the mark. In the 64th minute the Cadiz
defence managed to clear another Girona attack but Peragon collected the loose
ball and fired in a looping shot over the head of Zlamal but the ball came back
off the crossbar to the feet of Migue who was free to slot the ball beyond the
unprotected Polish keeper to make it 3-0. Tristan replaced Ogbeche shortly
afterwards and managed three left footed efforts in as many minutes but two were
wide of the mark whilst the other was straight at the Girona keeper. In the
first minute of time added on a misunderstanding between Cifu and Zlamal saw the
Cadiz keeper unable to cleanly collect a cross and the ball ran through to Gabri
who clipped the ball into an empty net to make it 4-0. In the final play of the
half a corner by Girona found a free header in front of goal but the
effort was thankfully wide of the goal and the game ended with the score
at 4-0.
