BACK TO FIXTURES & RESULTS PREVIOUS GAME NEXT GAME
With Diego Rivas beginning to fit in well with the team and showing a good footballing brain combined with a great engine he is helping los amarillos to control the centre of the park and that is exactly what happened in this game. Cadiz created more chances than the visitors but their biggest problem this season and last season has been to convert their dominance into goals and victories. The first opportunity fell to Cadiz in the seventh minute when Rivas collected a short corner and centred well for De La Cuesta to rise and head the ball goalwards but his effort was easily held by Jacobo in the Numancia goal. Most danger from the visitors came from dead ball situations and in the 14th minute Juan Carlos Moreno struck a free kick that flew high and wide but it was an indication of what he was capable of. With the fans singing loud and clear Cadiz continued the pressure on the field with Enrique volleying a cross from Lobos but it was off target, this was followed by Gustavo Lopez crossing to Casas but his effort was also off target. With neither side able to break the deadlock the half finished 0-0.
Cadiz certainly deserved more out of the game but unfortunately the old
problem of not scoring enough goals is not going to go away and until they find
some solution los amarillos are going to struggle to keep collecting three
points and next weeks match away at third placed Sporting Gijon is going to be
another tough challenge.
