BACK TO FIXTURES & RESULTS PREVIOUS GAME NEXT GAME
Whilst the game started evenly between the two teams, it took a turn for the worse when Paz injured his left knee in the 13th minute. This brought around a switch at the back, with Caneda slotting into his more comfortable position of centre back and Vella, out of favour with the previous manager, coming on at right back. The switch did little to change the confident start made by Cadiz, with the visitors dominating the middle of the park with Lobos looking like he was starting to find his form after the lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The second half started well for the home team, but although they won a couple of freekicks around the Cadiz area they couldn’t find the target and equalize. The visitors looked to be playing brightly, keeping the Murcia forwards at bay, and using pace to counter attack when they were given the chance. Nano replaced Enrique, and then Lobos hobbled off to be replaced by Moran, the early reports suggest that Lobos only has slight swelling and that it is not the same knee that caused the near three month spell on the sidelines earlier in the season. With the match petering out and Gonzalez about to celebrate a much needed victory on the road, A freekick from the Cadiz right eluded Armando’s dive at the far post and was headed in by an unmarked Goitom. The late goal will be a bitter blow to Cadiz who needed a victory to kick start their stuttering season, and all fans will be anxiously awaiting news of Lucas Lobos’s injury. A good result at home to Poli Ejido is a must before the following weekends clash at El Chapin when Cadiz take on high flying neighbours Xerez
