GAME
expected as Ogbeche again starts up front. A second trip in three weeks up to
Castellon has resulted in another defeat for Cadiz who today were playing in
their third strip of maroon, against the yellows of Villareal B. Regrettably it
was los amarillos of Villareal B who completely dominated the game against a
Cadiz side that looked a shadow of the outfit that performed so well last week
against a strong Real Betis side. Right from the first whistle the younsters
from Villareal B were first to the ball and giving the run around to a Cadiz
side who were not up to the pace of the home side and, worse, did not seem to
work out how to play against them by playing as a team. Within the opening ten
minutes the home side could have been ahead first when they hit the post with
Casilla beaten and then when another dangerous effort came in but this time it
was diverted behind by the Cadiz keeper. All over the pitch the home side were
dominating and the pace at which they were playing completely overpowered Cadiz
and it looked to be only a matter of time before the home side were ahead. Half
way through the half the breakthrough came when another swift attack found
Cristobal on the edge of the area and he shimmied to the right of Cristian and
fired in a super shot past Casilla to make it 1-0. For
some reason the heads of some of the Cadiz players seemed to go down and they
really didn't seem to have any fight in them today and played resigned to the
fact that they were going to lose, even though there were still some two thirds
of the game to go. Somehow it looked as if Cadiz were going to hold out until
half time just the one down and maybe Gracia would be able to instil some fire
in them at the break but in the final seconds of the half the defense were
floundering again and the nifty Hernan Perez raced clear with just Casilla to
beat. The Cadiz keeper raced out and up ended the Villareal B forward outside
the box and as it was deemed to be a goal scoring opportunity the referee showed
a straight red and Cadiz were now down to 10 men and without their first choice
keeper. Gracia immediately took off Abraham and put on the young Polish keeper
Zlamal, for his debut between the posts for los amarillos.
The
second half was much the same and with Cadiz down a man it really was a stroll
in the park for the home team as Cadiz had no answers and didn't look as if they
could possibly get back into the game. Marco Ruben went close for the home team
early in the half and then got away from Fragoso but he lacked the pace to get
to the ball before Zlamal. With Nano coming on at the start of the half at least
Cadiz looked a bit more dangerous but they never really troubled the home keeper
and with little more than ten minutes to go the powerful forward running from
the home side resulted in Matilla being free to fire home to make it 2-0, which
is how the match ended. In the first 6 games Cadiz let in just 3 goals but only
scored 3, in the last 6 they have been scoring 8 but they have also leaked
14 goals. It seems to suggest that there is plenty of hard work required by the
Management team to get the side playing as a unit because the players certainly
look good enough for this league and some even for the higher division but as a
unit they are just not showing that.
