BACK TO FIXTURES & RESULTS PREVIOUS GAME NEXT GAME
Hopes were high that the change of manager would bring an instant victory to los amarillos against lowly Las Palmas., but it was not to be as the two teams fought out a fairly tame 0-0. Cadiz started well and soon took complete control of the game in the first half but rarely managed to make any significant in roads through the Canaries defence. The biggest threat to the visitors all seemed to come through Lucas Lobos, who still looks to be one of the best buys albeit not being fully match fit after his lengthy lay off through injury. The clearest chance for Cadiz to score came in the 43rd minute when Lobos put a ball through to Sesma but his center was difficult for Nano to control and score and the Las Palmas defence were able to clear the threat.
With the score remaining at 0-0 Las Palmas seemed to grow in confidence in the final 10 minutes and Trashorras almost scored when he controlled a ball on the edge of the Cadiz area and shot but thankfully his effort just went past Armandos left goal post for a goal kick. Cadiz fought back and in the 83rd minute Raul Lopez picked up a clearance from a corner in the center of the park and pushed the ball out to the left wing to Moran, who went by the defender and slid a great ball across the front of goal with Medina bearing down but he was unable to make any contact and the ball was safely cleared. The final heart stopping moment came in the third minute of time added on when confusion in the Cadiz defence saw the ball rebound to an unmarked Txiki with the goal at his mercy but his header just missed the left post. The result was a little disappointing for the amount of possession that Cadiz had but there was much to encourage the players and fans. A clean sheet, the domination and control through the middle and the form of Lucas Lobos.
