GAME
Following
the red card to Lopez Silva last week he misses tonights game and his place is
taken by Nano Gonzalez, whilst Enrique drops to the bench with Ormazabal coming
into the midfield and Fran Cortes starting on the right. After last weeks
victory hopes were high that another three points could be added to this seasons
tally against bottom of the table Castellon, who have amassed just four points
from their first nine games. However it was the home team who started strongly
and really dominated Cadiz, although los amarillos had the first half chance in
the fourth minute when a good play between Cristian and Fran Cortes led to a
dangerous cross coming over from Cortes but there was nobody able to get
on the end of it. However that was a rare foray into the Castellon half as the
white and black stripes of the home side pressed forward into the Cadiz half
looking to break the visiting defence and it looked as if they had opened the
scoring in the 14th minute when Buesco finished off a cross from the right but
the goal was, eventually, ruled out for offside. Regrettably they didn´t have
to wait that long before they were finally ahead when in the 24th minute from a
well rehearsed free kick Campos nodded the ball down and into the net to make it
1-0. With time edging towards half time Cadiz were given a lifeline when
Baigorri made a mistake and Fran Cortes pounced on the ball raced into the area and
slipped it inside to Ormazabal, who failed to connect but the ball ran through
to Nano who buried the ball in the net with his left to make it all square at
the break.
At
the start of the second half the game opened up and it was end to end stuff with
Ogbeche galloping through but his left footed effort was wide of the mark and
then Nano put in a dangerous cross from the left but again there was no Cadiz
player able to get to it and the ball was easily cleared. At the other end
Palanca was causing problems first a solo effort ended with his shot being off
target that was followed by a good cross to the far post to Ulloa who failed to
convert the chance. As the half wore on the home side upped the pressure and
Cadiz got numbers behind the ball looking to try and score on a quick break and
Gracia put on Fleurquin, Enrique and Abraham, taking off the playmakers
Caballero, Fran Cortes and Ormazabal. However after just 15 minutes on the pitch
Fleurquin was heading for an early bath when he picked up a straight red after
jumping for a ball against Uranga who crashed to the ground. With Cadiz a man
down it was all one way traffic until the final whistle but los amarillos were
holding out well until just four minutes before the end Guzman popped up on the
edge of the box to make it 2-1 to Castellon. On the stroke of the ninetieth minute
Guzman repeated the feat to make it 3-1 and two minutes into time added on
Alvaro Silva knocked the ball in for an unfortunate own goal to make the final
score 4-1. That however was not the end of the story as Ogbeche managed to get
himself red carded after the final whistle, although he believes that he was the
victim of ungentlemanly conduct from a couple of Castellon players and hopes
that the incident was videoed and his red card will be revoked, but at the
moment he misses next weeks home game against Real Betis, which is being played
on Sunday, 8th November at the Carranza, kicking off at 17.00.
As a postscript to this report, Ogbeche received a four match ban, however,
after reviewing some film of the incident Cadiz appealed the decision. This
resulted in the ban being over-turned and the red card has been downgraded to a
yellow instead.
