Paz started his career locally at El Puerta de Santa Maria team Portuense, but his potential was clear from a very early stage and  he soon developed into a vital part of the Cadiz team. In the promotion season of 2001/02 he was immense and not only was he solid at the back he managed 7 goals. Although quite small and skillful for a centre back, the arrival of the experienced De Quintana in 2003 complimented him superbly, although at the end of 2003/04 he faced a battle with De  La Cuesta to remain in the team. Last summer saw the expiration of his contract, and although there were strong rumours that Sevilla were interested in giving him the chance of top flight football, Paz re-signed and now has that chance with Cadiz.  Paz had some injury problems last season and only played 22 games but is getting back to full fitness. Only played a few games at the start of last season before undergoing surgery on his knee injury and was out for the rest of the season. Looks to be back to full fitness and will undoubtedly be fighting hard to regain his place at the heart of the defence.
