Pavoni started his career in Argentina with Newells Old Boys and later Central Cordoba before arriving at Cadiz in 2002 as somewhat of an unknown. Nonetheless he settled in well and after scoring 9 goals in his first season he nearly left the club after a contract problem. This was resolved however and although he continued to play regularly in the 2003/04 season he was hampered by a pelvic injury. With around a quarter of that season left it was decided he would have an operation to cure the problem, and since his return to full fitness he has been a key to the side, often playing off a lone striker and providing the link from midfield.
