De Quintana
started his career with Figueras in the Segunda division in 1991 and
after 2 seasons move to Primera Liga team Osasuna. It was a short lived
spell in the top flight though, and he moved to Rayo Vallecano in
1994/95 and helped them to reach the Primera Liga in his first year. In
the next 2 years he played 75 top flight games, and a move to Mérida
followed. Unfortunately they got relegated in his first season to the
Segunda A division, and after playing 2 years at that level he returned
to Rayo Vallecano where he again played regular first team football at
the highest level. He moved to Cadiz in the summer of 2003, and although
he took time to settle, his experience and height immensly improved the
Cadiz defence, and his obvious danger at both ends of the pitch has made
him a firm favourite with the fans. He has formed a superb partnership with
Paz at the heart of the defence which was instrumental to the promotion
to the Primera Liga. Was the main central defender with Caneda,
after the long term injury to Paz last season but with Paz returning to full
fitness and new signing Yago Yao now at the club, there is plenty of
competition for the central defense positions.
