With promotion gained for both teams today was going to be a time for the players to enjoy themselves without too much pressure. It was also a time for Javier Gracia to change a number of the normal players giving a chance to some of the less regular players this season. First change was to play Dani in goal with Casilla on the bench, Delgado started in the middle of the defence with Mansilla on the bench, at left back David Garcia starts in place of the injured Raul Lopez and suspended Cifuentes. In midfield Fran Cortes and Erice start with Enrique and Fleurquin rested and up front is Rubiato instead of Toedtli who is also rested. From the first whistle it was clear that this was going to be a football fiesta with both teams spraying the ball about and looking for goals and it was Cadiz who were the first to strike when after just 8 minutes Caballero crossed from the left and Rubiato headed the ball home to make it 0-1. The home team however, with their stadium full of their supporters dressed in the white and black colours of their team cheering them on, wanted to continue the celebrations of their promotion by pressing forward and eight minutes after going behind Tato went down in the Cadiz area after a clash with Fragoso amidst shouts of a penalty the referee waved play on.  Los amarillos played their part in an enthralling first half contest and doubled their lead after 26 minutes when a good play through the middle of the park ended with Caballero slipping the ball through to Lopez Silva, which allowed the left winger to square the ball to Rubiato again who made no mistake from a couple of yards out with an open goal in front of him to make it 0-2 to Cadiz. From then on until the end of the first half  Dani, in the Cadiz goal, became the man of the match for los amarillos by pulling off several great saves from Nano, Falcon, Sanchez and Mena and with the woodwork also helping on a couple of occasions Cadiz held on to their narrow two goal lead at the break.

The second half began with the home team powering forward looking to reduce the deficit, which left plenty of space for Cadiz to try and take advantage of and shortly after the second half began Rubiato almost got his hat trick when he fired in a good shot that was diverted for a corner. At the other end Dani continued his heroics with another fine stop from a Mena shot. Shortly after coming on Alvaro found himself in space in a one on one with Oscar Mateo, who had taken over in the Cartagena goal, but it was the keeper who just managed to thwart the Cadiz player and keep the score at 0-2. In the 72nd minute Addison went down in the box as he tried to reach a cross from the right with Fragoso looking as if he just eased the forward off balance but this time the referee pointed to the spot for a fairly dubious penalty but then, rather harshly, also showed the Cadiz central defender a straight red card reducing los amarillos to ten men for the final twenty minutes or so. Nano stepped up to take the penalty and fired it home to make it 1-2. With the numerical advantage the home supporters were hoping that their heroes would score more and Delgado had to head a dangerous cross from Nano behind for a corner but despite being a man down Cadiz did not always defend and they controlled and passed the ball well  and in one superb movement with virtually every Cadiz player getting a touch Erice played the ball through to Alvaro whose effort was well saved by Mateo. With time running out Dani was again called to action to thwart another goal bound effort from Mena and then in the final seconds of time added on Cristian raced down the right with Fran Cortes putting the ball into Alvaro in a good position but the home defence were able to stub out the threat as the referee blew the final whistle.

The second leg of the champion of champions of the Segunda B takes place next Saturday, 6th June 2009 at the Carranza kicking off at 19.30 with entry free to season ticket holders and at a reduced price for anybody else who wants to come along and enjoy the celebrations.
