In this first promotion fase match it was back to the more usual tried and tested players with Raul Lopez returning after injury at left back and Mansilla, somewhat surprisingly, starting alongside Fragoso instead of Delgado. With the biggest crowd of the season in the Carranza the atmosphere was electric and expectations high amongst the cadistas. It was clear right from the start that the Real Union team were certainly not going to be easy to overcome, looking a well balanced and powerful outfit but los amarillos had the perfect start when they were awarded a free kick about 30 yards out. Instead of firing the ball into the box Caballero slipped it to his right where Fragoso collected the ball and clipped it over the Real Union defense into the path of the flying Enrique who coolly knocked it into the centre where Toedtli was following up unchallenged and he headed the ball powerfully past Otermin, The Real Union keeper, to make it 1-0 to Cadiz. With still plenty of the match left the visitors didn't panic and much of the match was played across the centre of the field with both teams able to defend well and rarely creating any clear cut chances from open play with any half chances coming from dead ball situations. Both sides were up to the task though and the score remained at 1-0 at half time, with the only negative for los amarillos being another injury to Raul Lopez who had to be substituted with less than half an hour played, however his replacement Cifuentes has grown in confidence in the last few weeks and he played well.

Within ten minutes of the start of the second half and the visitors were reduced to 10 men when Aitor Sanz collected a second yellow card, which relieved the pressure on Cadiz as the opening of the second half had seen the best moments from Real Union and the goal of Casilla was looking vulnerable. With the numerical advantage Cadiz were able to spread the ball into space and could have increased their lead through an Ormazabal effort that smacked into the outside of the post and another chance from Toedtli that was diverted behind for a corner but the visitors defended well and still looked dangerous on the break despite being a man down. With six minutes left Real Union were a further man down when Gabarain also collected a second yellow card and Gracia threw on Rubiato and Fran Cortes to try and take a larger lead back to the Stadium Gal next week but it was not to be nad the match finished with Cadiz the victors by the single goal. It is clear from tonights display that los amarillos will have to be on top of their game next week to overcome the strong Real union outfit and win promotion back to the Segunda A at the first attempt.
