Sambegou Bangoura  was born in Guinea on the 3rd April 1982. He is a big centre forward who played basketball in his native Guinea before becoming a professional footballer. His early playing career was in Belgium where he scored 61 goals in 109 appearances in his first five seasons there which earned him a place in the Guinea National side, where he has picked up 11 caps. In 2005 he was signed by Stoke City and started off well there, however he got into trouble for not turning up for training and for not returning after international duty and he was eventually sent on loan back to Belgium. His 'personal' problems that had caused him so much trouble at Stoke continued in Belgium and Stoke finally sold him last year to Portuguese first division outfit Boavista. He has not been able to hold down a regular first team place there and has now joined Cadiz on loan until the end of the season.
