Armando signed for Cadiz in the middle of the 1998/99 season and went straight into the team when he made his debut against Plasencia. He cemented his place as number one at the start of the 2000/01 season and played 120 games over the next 3 seasons, the final one being the promotion season of 2002/03 when he conceeded 32 goals in 41 games. The 2003/04 season saw stiff competition from homegrown Navas, who played in 26 of the games that season, but despite rumours in the press, fans favourite Armando stayed and fought his way back into the team. He was as important as anyone in the promotion to the Primera Liga and played 25 games in the top flight battle to stay up. This season he is still the first choice keeper and also vice captain.
